Delhi High Court Lists Pleas Challenging CLAT 2025 Results To April 07, Underscores Anxiety In Students

The Delhi High Court on Monday listed for April 07 a batch of petitions challenging the results of the Common Law Admission Test-2025 (CLAT-2025) examination held in December last year for admissions to undergraduate and post-graduate law courses in various National Law Universities.The pleas were filed in various High Courts across the country and were transferred by the Supreme Court to the Delhi High Court. The transfer petition was filed by the Consortium of National Law Universities.A division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela fixed the matters for hearing on April 07 and remarked that case will be decided in an expeditious manner. “There is a lot of anxiety in students. Their board exams are going on. They are very young. Because of this uncertainty, it is causing a lot of stress in students…We want to pass an order just to facilitate how smoothly we can start,” CJ remarked during the hearing. The Court requested the counsel for the parties to give common list of writ petitions pertaining to the CLAT PG course and CLAT UG course. It directed the registry to club all the matters received from all High Courts and further directed the counsel representing the Consortium of NLUs to file a counter affidavit within two weeks. It further requested the counsel for all the parties to prepare two different sets of convenience compilations containing the documents and judgments relied upon by them. “We also direct the Registry to serve copy of the writ petitions on the counsel representing the consortium of NLUs. The Registry is directed to ensure that a copy of the writ petitions is served on the CLAT Consortium within three days. We also direct that in case any other writ petition is received, the copy shall also be served by the Registry upon the counsel for the Clat Consortium within two days from the date it is received. The petitions were pending in the High Courts of Delhi, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Bombay, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab & Haryana against the results of the CLAT-2025 test held in December 2024.Previously, the Supreme Court had expressed inclination to transfer the matters to the Punjab and Haryana High Court as the first petition was filed there.In December 2024, a single judge of the Delhi High Court found that two answers of the CLAT-UG 2025 exam were wrong and asked the Consortium to revise the results of the petitioners. When the Consortium appealed against the single bench's decision, the division bench remarked that they prima facie did not find any error in the single bench's decision.Case : CONSORTIUM OF NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITIES VS.
