The Delhi High Court has temporarily restrained several individuals and unknown persons from using the marks “AKASA,” “AKASA AIR,” and related trademarks to run alleged fake recruitment activities linked to Akasa Air, after finding a prima facie case of impersonation.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora passed the interim order on December 22, 2025, while hearing a trademark infringement suit filed by SNV Aviation Private Limited, the operator of Akasa Air. The ourt also directed the suspension of domain names, mobile numbers, and bank accounts allegedly used in the fraudulent scheme.

SNV Aviation told the court that it holds trademark registrations for “AKASA AIR” and related marks, which it has been using since 2021. It stated that it runs its official website 'www.akasaair.com' and has built significant goodwill and reputation in the aviation sector.

The airline said it began receiving complaints from members of the public who were offered jobs in Akasa Air through emails, phone calls, and messages. According to the company, the persons behind these communications falsely claimed to be airline representatives and demanded money from job seekers under the pretext of recruitment fees.

SNV Aviation further alleged that the fraudsters used deceptively similar domain names, email addresses, mobile numbers, and bank accounts to create a false impression of association with Akasa Air. It sought urgent interim relief to stop the misuse of its brand name and to prevent further harm to the public.

After examining the material on record, the court held that a prima facie case was made out in favour of the airline. It observed that continued misuse of the marks would seriously damage the airline's reputation and goodwill and would also mislead unsuspecting job seekers.

“The balance of convenience lies in favour of the Plaintiff, and if the Defendants are not restrained, the Plaintiff would suffer irreparable injury which cannot be adequately compensated in terms of money. The injunction is also necessary to protect the interests of the general public who are being ensnared by the infringing Defendants,” the Court said.

Pending further hearing, the court restrained the defendants from using the marks “AKASA,” “AKASA AIR,” or any deceptively similar mark in any manner, including through domain names, email addresses, offer letters, or other communications.

The court also directed domain registrars to suspend and lock the infringing domain names. It further ordered government authorities, telecom service providers, banks, and payment platforms to disclose the know-your-customer details linked to the blocked domains, phone numbers, and bank accounts.

The matter will next be listed on May 22, 2026.
