Delhi High Court Issues Notice On Plea Seeking Publishing Of Revised Merit List For 2023 DJS Mains

The Delhi High Court has issued notice on a plea seeking publishing of revised merit cum waiting list of the candidates who appeared in Delhi Judicial Services Main Examination (Written), 2023.A division bench comprising Justice C Hari Shankar and Justice Ajay Digpaul issued notice on the petition filed by candidate, Meenakshi Meena, who alleged that there was error apparent of over-writing and alterations were made to marks originally awarded to her in a question and on the answer sheet of Civil Law-I exam. She sought a direction that she be called for the viva voce and call a revised merit cum waiting list be issued. placing her at the appropriate position there. “Issue notice to show cause as to why rule nisi be not issued,” the Court said. It sought response of the High Court administration, through the Registrar General, within four weeks and listed the matter for hearing October 14. The plea said that on a careful scrutiny of the answer sheet in Civil Law-I exam, Meena found out that the marking and awarding of marks in Question No. 8 and, simultaneously on table on the main score sheet was altered both numerically and in words. “That the said alteration and/ or revision of originally awarded marks for Question No. 8 did not bear any endorsement by way of signature and/or initials of the Examiner and, therefore, could not be said to bear any authentication,” the plea states.It added that despite making a Representation to the Examination Committee seeking redressal of her bonafide grievance of alleged unauthorised alteration or tampering of marks awarded, Meena said that the said Representation was still pending consideration.The petition sought rectification of the alleged error and to restore the original marks awarded to Meena. It further sought laying down of guidelines or directions to the Examination Committee to amend the rules for checking the Answer Sheet of Delhi Judicial Services Main Examination in case of cutting or change of marks done by the Examiner.
