The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered removal of objectionable content on social media against Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Justice Amit Bansal said that prima facie case was made out in favour of Choudhary in the defamation suit filed by him.
“Prima facie case is made out….,” the judge said.
The Court noted that as per the suit, Choudhary has been an upright leader throughout his career and has achieved the position on account of his efforts.
Choudhary was aggrieved by a video appearing on social media platforms containing an audio of an alleged telephonic conversation of a man speaking with a woman. The thumbnail of the video contained Choudhary's face.
It was Choudhary's case that the clear implication was that the male voice in the audio was his. He denied all the contents and said that the videos were circulated deliberately to destroy his image.
The matter is now listed in April, 2026.
