Delhi High Court Protects Realty Firm Signature Global Against Fake Websites

The Delhi High Court has granted ad-interim relief to real estate developer SignatureGlobal (India) Limited, restraining the operator of 'signatureglobal.com' from using the impugned domain or any online platform that impersonates the company. The injunction will remain in force until March 10, 2026.A single bench of Justice Tejas Karia passed the order on November 12, 2025, after finding that the disputed website was an imitation of Signature Global's official site, 'signatureglobal.in', and could mislead homebuyers into believing it was associated with the company. Signature Global, a mid-income housing developer in the Delhi-NCR region since 2014, told the Court that an unknown operator had created a fake website duplicating every major element of its official platform. The imitation allegedly copied the company's registered mark 'SIGNATUREGLOBAL', layout, colour scheme, videos, and photographs. The company discovered the fake website in the first week of November 2025 during routine online checks. It argued that such replication could confuse homebuyers and damage its goodwill. After reviewing the material, the court held that SignatureGlobal is the prior adopter and continuous user of the 'SIGNATUREGLOBAL' mark and has built significant goodwill since 2014. It noted that the impugned website had copied distinctive elements of the official site, creating a false impression of association. The Court said the overall similarity was likely to mislead the public and could facilitate fraudulent activity. It observed that the imitation enabled the possibility of extracting money from unsuspecting homebuyers. “The overall impression created by the Impugned Website is deceptively similar to that of the Plaintiff's Website, giving rise to a likelihood of confusion and enabling fraudulent extraction of money from unsuspecting homebuyers.”, It said.Finding a prima facie case in favour of SignatureGlobal, the court held that the balance of convenience lay with the company and the continued operation of the fake website would cause irreparable harm to its reputation. The Court therefore restrained the operator of 'signatureglobal.com' and all associated persons from operating, hosting, publishing or advertising the impugned website, or using the 'SIGNATUREGLOBAL' mark or any deceptively similar mark. It also directed the Domain Registrar to lock and suspend the domain 'signatureglobal.com'. The matter will be next heard on March 10, 2026. Case Title: SignatureGlobal (India) Limited v.
