Video On Sadhguru, Isha Foundation Taken Down : YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh To Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court on Friday was informed that YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh's allegedly defamatory video on Isha Foundation and its founder spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has been taken down.

The submission was made by Singh's counsel before Justice Jyoti Singh in the defamation case filed against him by Isha Foundation.

The video titled “Sadhguru EXPOSED: What's happening in Jaggi Vasudev's Ashram” was uploaded by Singh on his YouTube channel on February 24 and he shared it on his 'X' page with allegations suggesting that minors were being exploited in the Ashram.

The Court granted Singh time to file his response in Isha Foundation's suit as well as interim injunction application.

The matter has been listed before the Registrar for completion of pleadings on July 08. The case will be listed before Court on September 09.

In March, a coordinate bench had directed Singh to take down the video in question, observing that it was based on “unverified material” and that the title of the video was a clickbait to attract public attention.

“In the opinion of this Court, the contents as mentioned in the video are per se defamatory and the same directly impinge upon the reputation of the Plaintiff in eyes of the general public as it states that the Plaintiff follows certain practices which are not accepted in the society,” the Court had said.

The defendants Google LLC, X Corp and Meta platforms were directed to take down the video and Singh was restrained from publishing or sharing the video it. Members of the public were also restrained from uploading the said video on any social media platform.
