Delhi High Court Directs 'American Dream11' To Take Down Social Media Pages Infringing Dream11's Mark

The Delhi High Court has directed American Dream 11, a US-based fantasy gaming company, to take down or block all its social media pages and profiles that allegedly infringe the trademark Dream11 on platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram.A single-judge bench of Justice Tejas Karia passed the order while hearing a plea filed by Sporta Technologies Pvt. Ltd., which operates India's leading fantasy sports platform Dream11. It observed: “It is directed that till the next date of hearing before this Court, the defendants shall take down or block all social media pages, profiles, or any use of the plaintiff's mark Dream11/American Dream 11 on any platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram.”According to the suit, Sporta Technologies first came across the defendants' platform AmericanDream11.US in mid-2025, which used a logo, layout, and user interface allegedly “identical” to that of Dream11. They alleged that the defendants' actions were a “deliberate and incremental attempt” to imitate its platform and divert Indian consumers. Sporta Technologies had issued a legal notice on July 17, 2025, to American Dream 11 US, warning them of infringement. The defendants responded on July 26, 2025, claiming that their operations were solely within the United States and Canada and that they had no intention to target Indian customers.However, Sporta claimed that American Dream 11 Fantasy Sports Pvt. Ltd. had already been incorporated in India on July 22, 2025, four days before their reply. During the hearing, counsel for the defendants stated that they were appearing for both the Indian and US entities and had instructions to completely take everything down in India and not to target the Indian market. They further submitted that the defendants would geo-block the website [www.americandream11.us] so that the same is not accessible in India. However, the court noted that social media platforms could not be geo-blocked and directed that the pages and profiles be taken down entirely until next date of hearing. Justice Karia, recorded American Dream11's statement that they shall cease using the mark American Dream 11 or any other deceptively similar variant of the plaintiff's mark Dream11 in India, whether as a trade name, domain name, logo, email address, or in any other manner amounting to infringement. The court also referred the parties to mediation, observing that they may arrive at a mutually agreeable settlement.
