The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a petition filed with “mix bunch of prayers” concerning NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, including a prayer to scrap the National Testing Agency (NTA) from conducting future public examinations.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia observed that a writ petition with “such mixture of prayers” cannot be entertained.

NEET-UG 2026 re-exam was conducted nationwide by NTA on June 21, following the cancellation of the original May 03 examination due to an alleged question paper leak.

The petition was filed by two young candidates who appeared in the re-examination.

They sought a direction on the NTA to correct their score cards, as well as those of all similarly placed candidates who did not get four marks for the dropped question they were aggrieved of.

A direction was also sought to rectify arithmetical errors in the score cards after awarding four marks to them and all other similarly placed candidates.

The petitioners also sought constitution of an expert committee to look at their grievances as well as those concerning similarly situated candidates.

They also sought a direction that the NTA be scrapped from conducting any future public exams, including the NEET-UG.

The Court refused to entertain the plea observing that it contained a mix bunch of prayers not limiting to the petitioners but also to all candidates who appeared in re-NEET UG examination.

Accordingly, the counsel appearing for the petitioners sought to withdraw the plea, with liberty that one of the candidates will file a civil writ whereas the other petitioner will file a PIL with prayers concerning institutional reforms required for conducting public examinations like NEET-UG.

“You need to be clear in your mind what exactly you want,” the Court remarked, as it allowed the withdrawal with the liberty as prayed for.

SGI Tushar Mehta appeared for NTA.
