    The Karnataka High Court has permitted an advocate who is 8 1⁄2 months pregnant to write her judicial services written main exams at the District Court in Mangaluru(her hometown), instead of travelling to Bengaluru.

    The High Court of Kamataka had vide its Notification dated: 9th March 2023 called for direct recruitment to the post of Civil Judge to fill up 57 vacancies. The preliminary exams were held on 23.07.2023 and more than 6000 candidates appeared for the same, of which 1022 candidates cleared the preliminary examination. The written main exam is scheduled on 18th and 19th November, 2023 at Bengaluru only.

    Registrar General K S Bharat Kumar, said that Nethravathi, an advocate from D.K. Mangaluru, qualified for the main examinations and submitted a written requisition to the High Court, to permit her to write the examination at District Court D.K. Mangaluru as she is unable to travel due to her 8½ months pregnancy and delicate health condition.

    Following which the requisition was put before the Committee for Direct Recruitment of Civil Judges of Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar, Justice K. Somashekar, Justice S. Sunil Dutt Yadav, Justice Ashok S. Kinagi and Justice M. Nagaprasanna. The committee on consideration allowed her to write the main examination at the District Court D.K. Mangaluru, especially looking into the delicate health condition of being 8%½ months pregnant-due at any time and her inability to travel. Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale, has approved the decision of the Committee.

    In accordance with the directions of the Chief Justice and the Committee, the Registrar General K.S. Bharath Kumar, has specially deputed a lady judicial officer posted at Bengaluru as observer to conduct the main examination at District Court D.K. Mangaluru for Advocate Nethravathi, under the supervision of Principal District and Session Judge D.K. Mangaluru. Further it has directed the Principal District and Session Judge D.K. Mangaluru to make necessary medical arrangements in case of emergency.
