Centre Notifies Permanent Appointments For Four Additional Judges Of Madras High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of four additional judges of the Madras High Court as permanent judges. In a tweet by the Union Minister of Kaw and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, it was informed that the following judges have been appointed as permanent judges of the Madras High Court. (i) Justice Ramasamy Sakthivel(ii) Justice P Dhanabal(iii) Justice Chinnasamy Kumarappan, and (iv) Justice Kandasamy RajasekarThe Supreme Court Collegium had recommended making them Permanent Judges in its meeting held on 20th February 2025. The four judges were appointed as Additional Judges of the Madras High Court on May 19, 2023. Justice Sakthivel, who enrolled as an Advocate in 1998 joined the District Judiciary in 2011 through direct recruitment and held positions such as Additional District Judge in Thanjavur and Coimbatore, Administrator General and the Official Trustee (AGOT) of Tamil Nadu, Registrar General of Madras High Court, Principal District Judge of Coimbatore and Krishnagiri Districts.Justice P. Dhanabal, who was serving as the Registrar General of the Madras High Court at the time of his elevation joined the District Judiciary in 2011. He served as an Additional District Munsif and thereafter as Additional Sub Judge at Dharmapuri, and as III Additional District Judge, II Additional District Judge(PCR,) and I Additional District Judge at Tirunelveli. He also served as Principal District Judge, Cuddalore and then as Chief Judge, Puducherry.Justice C Kumarappan, who also joined the District Judiciary as District Judge in 2011, served in Thoothukudi and Madurai Districts. He also served in the Registry of Madras High Court as the Registrar (IT-cum- Statistics) and Registrar General and was the Presiding Officer at the Principal Labour Court, Chennai at the time of his elevation.Justice K Rajasekar who became a District Judge (Entry Level) in 2011 served at Namakkal, Salem, Chennai, Tirunelveli, and Coimbatore before being elevated as the Additional Judge of the Madras High Court.
