The Patna High Court has refused to entertain a plea seeking re-examination of NEET (UG) 2025 at Bapu Pariksha Parisar, Patna, on allegations of mismanagement and loss of examination time.

A Single Judge Bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice Harish Kumar was hearing the writ petition filed by a NEET UG candidate, limited to the extent of seeking a re-test only for the particular centre where he appeared for the examination held on 04.05.2025.

    Background:

The Petitioner contended that due to mismanagement and delay in distribution of question papers and OMR answer sheets, candidates at the centre were allegedly not allowed to utilise the full three hours. It was claimed that approximately 30–35 minutes of the examination time was wasted, causing serious prejudice. On this basis, the petitioner sought a re-test of NEET UG 2025 at the said centre.

Refuting the allegations, the Respondents relied on the counter affidavit filed on behalf of the examination authorities. It was specifically stated that the Principal of Utkramit Uchch Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Kurthaul, Centre No. 1502107 (Centre Name: Bapu Pariksha Parisar, Kumhrar, Patna), who acted as the Centre Superintendent, along with the Invigilators, had categorically asserted that no candidate, including the petitioner, raised any complaint regarding shortfall of time or mismanagement. The counter-affidavit of the Respondent further stated that the examination commenced at 2:00 PM sharp and continued uninterrupted till 5:00 PM, and all candidates were provided the complete three-hour duration. It was said that after the examination, all OMR sheets were duly collected, sealed in a pink envelope, and signed by two candidate-witnesses.

The High Court took note of the categorical stand in the counter affidavit, and observed that the petitioner's counsel did not controvert the factual position stated by the Centre Superintendent and Invigilators.

In view of the above, the Court held that it found no reason or occasion to proceed further with the writ petition. Accordingly, the High Court refused to entertain the plea, and declined to grant the relief of re-examination at the concerned NEET UG 2025 centre.
