Justice Deepinder Singh Nalwa issued the notice after the petitioner alleged that, despite the IOA having informed the Court that her name had already been recommended and forwarded for participation in the Asian Games, the same was never actually forwarded to the concerned authorities.

The petitioner had earlier approached the High Court seeking a direction to the IOA to send her to participate in the Asian Games 2026 in Taekwondo in the Over-67 kg category, representing India.

While disposing of that writ petition on July 20, 2026, the Court had recorded a statement made on behalf of the IOA that the petitioner's name had already been recommended for participation in the Asian Games and forwarded to the Olympic Council of Asia as well as the concerned Ministry.

The petitioner has now alleged that after the writ petition was disposed of on the basis of the said statement, she learnt and verified from material placed on record that the IOA had, in fact, not forwarded her name to the concerned authorities.

She contends that the statement made before the Court was not an ordinary submission but a categorical statement concerning a specific action allegedly already taken by the IOA.

According to the petitioner, having made such a representation before the Court, the IOA was required to act consistently with it, and its failure to forward her name defeated the basis on which the earlier proceedings were disposed of.

The petitioner has accordingly alleged wilful non-compliance with the court order and sought action under the Contempt of Courts Act.
