The Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association has called upon its members to assemble today (October 13) at the Library Lawn of the High Court at 1:15 PM to observe one minute of silence in solidarity with advocates who were reportedly subjected to police high-handedness and manhandling in Delhi.

In a communication addressed to members of the Bar, the Association said the call was made in furtherance of the resolution passed by the Supreme Court Bar Association. It was issued by Association President Rohit Sud and the Executive Committee.

The Association urged members to stand united in support of the "dignity, honour and independence" of the legal fraternity. Members have also been encouraged to wear a white ribbon on their coats as a "peaceful symbol of unity and solidarity."

"An attack on the dignity of one advocate is an attack on the dignity of the entire legal fraternity," the communication states. It adds that members should stand together "beyond individual differences" as "ONE BAR, ONE VOICE, ONE FRATERNITY."

Describing members' presence as "a powerful expression of our collective strength, unity and unwavering commitment to uphold the dignity of the legal profession," the Association appealed for wide participation.
