The President of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has moved the Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking a judicial probe to assess alleged damage caused to the lives and properties of protesting farmers at the Punjab and Haryana borders on February 21.

It is alleged that several lives have been lost and about 250 farmers have been injured, "most of them have lost their visions and limbs," the plea stated.

It was alleged that damage was caused to the properties of the farmers such as tractor trolleys, cars, motorcycles and other motor vehicles because of indiscriminate firing done by the Haryana Police and C.R.P.F. by entering the territory of Punjab and for causing damage to the properties by putting permanent barricades upto the height of 7 meters on National Highway obstructing the smooth flow of traffic.

Balbir Singh Rajewal, submitted in the PIL that the damage done by the Haryana Police at the instance of the State Government is neither being investigated by the State of Punjab nor by the State of Haryana.

It is further submitted that the facts and circumstances of the case warrant the appointment of an independent Commission to be headed by a Sitting or a Retired Judge of the High Court to fix the responsibility of allegedly illegal acts done by Haryana Police
