    In a notable development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has designated 76 lawyers as Senior Advocates, among those elevated, five are women. 210 advocates had applied for Senior designation in 2024.

    The notification released by the High Court today (October 20) states that the senior Advocates are being designated subject to the condition that they would conduct 10 'Free Legal Aid' cases pro bono every year. Punjab Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi and Advocate Sanjeev Kaushik were widely speculated to be designated suo motu as Senior Advocates; however, their names did not appear in the final list released by the High Court.

    Advocate Dheeraj Jain is a senior panel counsel with the Union of India. He is the son of Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Satya Pal Jain.

    Promila Nain is a Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India.

    Sartej Singh Narula is President of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association.

    Vikas Chathrath holds expertise in service law and also runs and hosts a Youtube channel 'Beyond Law CLC' where legal experts speak on various topics.

    Major Navdeep Singh is a former volunteer reservist in the Indian Territorial Army, recognized for his expertise in military law and advocacy for military personnel's rights.
