The Rajasthan High Court has expressed displeasure over State's inaction against alleged illegal dyeing and printing in the housing colonies of Jodhpur, resulting in pollution.
The division bench of Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur and Justice Chandra Shekhar Sharma highlighted that despite granting time multiple times in the past, the State had not taken any action neither filed any response.
The Court directed the concerned authorities to provide explanation behind this inaction, and also to act in accordance with their orders/letters and submit a compliance report on the next date.
For context, the Court was hearing a PIL highlighting pollution caused in Jodhpur by the polluted water discharged due to dyeing and printing of clothes. It was alleged that in the housing colonies certain people were illegally dyeing and printing clothes.
Hence, immediate action was sought to curb the menace of the pollution.
The Court observed,
“It is a sad state of affairs that despite short time asked for and granted by this Court to the learned Additional Advocate General, neither any reply has been filed by any of the respondents nor any action as contemplated in their own letters/orders dated 24.10.2025 and 28.10.2025 has been taken by the respondents herein. This Court is at loss to understand that despite having sensitized the respondents about the seriousness of the issue involved, the requisite action as expected from the state authorities has not been taken.”
The matter is now listed on July 14, 2026.
