“ I am of the firm opinion that the easy availability of porn in this country is a serious impediment in the progress of this nation as a whole new generation is adversely affected leading to perversion of youth, loss of moral and spiritual values which if not checked can lead to total lack of productivity, rise in sex crimes, matrimonial disputes and a state of doom would then set in...

“ I am of the firm opinion that the easy availability of porn in this country is a serious impediment in the progress of this nation as a whole new generation is adversely affected leading to perversion of youth, loss of moral and spiritual values which if not checked can lead to total lack of productivity, rise in sex crimes, matrimonial disputes and a state of doom would then set in leading to total and complete disaster”, the 27-year-old woman’s  affidavit says.

A 27-year-old woman, shocked and upset by her husband’s addiction to porn is the latest to join the chorus for the complete ban on online pornography, an issue being examined by the Supreme Court.

She has moved apex court through lawyer Kamlesh Vaswani to become an intervenor in the plea filed by the advocate way back in 2013 to ban online pornography in which the court is issuing periodic directions.

In an affidavit, the woman says her 35-year-old husband has become so perverted that he is ignoring his day-to-day activities and their marriage is getting ruined as he is indifferent to her physical and other material needs. He has also begun insisting on a divorce by mutual consent and has already moved the family court.

“That I am of the firm opinion that the easy availability of porn in this country is a serious impediment in the progress of this nation as a whole new generation is adversely affected leading to perversion of youth, loss of moral and spiritual values which if not checked can lead to total lack of productivity, rise in sex crimes, matrimonial disputes and a state of doom would then set in leading to total and complete disaster”, her affidavit says.

“That I am of the opinion that all sexually explicit sites and all kinds of porn depicting women in very poor light must be banned in India as easy access of such explicit stuff is not at all good for the overall development of this great country. Young minds must be channelized for constructive pursuits and not be allowed to fall prey to the addiction of porn for the betterment of this country”, it said.

    THIRD SUCH PLEA

This is the third such affidavit being filed in the Kamlesh Vaswani Vs Union of India matter, the PIL seeking a complete ban on online pornography. Advocate Kamlesh Vaswani, the petitioner is represented in the matter by noted lawyer Vijay Panjwani.

In February 2017, another woman whose marriage was on the rocks due to her husband's porn addiction also became a party to the PIL in the top court, seeking a complete ban on online porn.

The next month, a class 12 student Akash Narwala, disgusted by the porn addiction among his classmates, moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to block the sleazy sites

“He is suffering from lack of virility and vitality and thus is unable to initiate sexual intercourse. However, my husband has at times forced me to have unnatural oral sex with him against my wishes. Thus he is exhibiting abnormal behaviour ruining my married life,” the woman's affidavit says.

She says that her husband is in the habit of sleeping in his mother’s bedroom at night, instead of being with her. “It appears to me that my husband is scared to initiate natural sexual intercourse with me, which is ruining my married life”, she says.

“My husband has been an addict of porn and spends a lot of his precious time watching porn which nowadays is easily accessible through the internet and as a result he has fallen prey to the addiction and is always watching pornographic videos, films and pictures."

The woman says she came to know that her husband is an addict of pornography since his teenage.

"I have found in my matrimonial home, old porn videos and CDs which my husband collected over the years and this exposes his fascination for hardcore porn and reflects his perverted lifestyle," she says.

“Now my husband is not allowing me to stay in the matrimonial home along with him. Further, he shared with me a mutual consent draft for divorce. I already communicated to my husband that I want to stay with him but he is adamant and hell-bent to divorce me. He also communicated to me on WhatsApp that he hates sex with me and thus wants to get rid of me. He has further told me that he has made up his mind on divorce long time back and my husband will thus not reverse his decision to divorce me at any cost." She said in the affidavit.
