Essential Qualification and Experience

• Section 18(3) (4),(5)(7)and (8) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 stipulates that an advocate who has been in practice for not less than Seven years may be appointed as Public Prosecutor or an Additional Public Prosecutor and an advocate who has been in practice for not less than 10 years may be appointed as Special Public Prosecutor.
• Further Section 10-A of G.O.(Ms). No. 4054, Home Department, Dated: 18.11.1961 states that an advocate with not less than Seven years of standing at the Bar of the Madras High Court, shall be appointed as Government Pleader, Public Prosecutor or as an Additional Public Prosecutor.
