Justice Sudhir Agarwal of the Allahabad High Court has  reportedly accomplished a feat of sorts by deciding one lakh cases since his appointment in October, 2005.

Justice Agarwal enrolled as an Advocate on 5 October, 1980. While he began with handling tax matters, he gradually shifted to service and specialized in the branch at the High Court. He also worked as the Standing Counsel for U.P. Power Corporation, UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam and Allahabad University. Thereafter, in 2003, he was appointed as the Additional Advocate General at the High Court, till his elevation.

During his tenure, Justice Agarwal has delivered several significant judgments, including the one in the Babri title suit in September, 2010. His advice to Government officers to send their children to Government Primary Schools had also garnered significant attention.

He had made headlines in July last year as well, when the Allahabad High Court Bar Association decided to go on a strike as a mark of protest against certain remarks made by him. He had then penned a letter to the Chief Justice, expressing his desire to initiate appropriate action against the members of the Bar involved in the strike. Despite the ups and downs, High Court lawyers are now reportedly planning to felicitate the Judge later this month for the unprecedented feat.
