Kerala Floods: Attorney General KK Venugopal Donates Rupees One Crore To CM's Relief Fund

The Attorney General for India KK Venugopal has donated Rupees One Crore to Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, to help the victims of flood havoc. His son and Senior Advocate Krishnan Venugopal has contributed another Fifteen Lakhs for the relief activities.Senior Advocate Chander Uday Singh has already contributed Rs 5 Lakhs.The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) had earlier called upon Advocates to contribute to the “SCBA Calamity Relief Fund” in order to help the food-hit people of the State. Reportedly an amount of Rs. 30,00,000 already lying in the fund is being transferred for the cause.As per the latest reports over 82,000 people in Kerala have been displaced due to the floods that have ravaged the State over the last nine days. As of Friday night, 164 were killed between August 8 and 17, and more than 3,14,000 people have been shifted to 2094 relief camps.Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan had sought an emergency relief of Rupees 2,500 crore from the Centre based on the estimated loss of Rs 20,000 crores. Prime Minister has now declared 500 Crores for the flood relief.Kerala High Court Advocates Association has called upon its member Advocates to contribute generously to flood relief.
