The Chief Justice of High Court of Kerala, Justice Ashok Bhushan has ordered to take up certain old cases which are ready for hearing during the summer vacation. This is in view of large number of civil, criminal and Writ petitions which are pending for quite long time in the High Court.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Registrar General said that counsel on either side can request for hearing during summer vacation, with no objection from the opposite counsel for listing their case during the summer vacation. Where the Government is party to the case, the Government pleader has to be served with the copy of request letter. On the basis of the request received, an advanced list of cases to be heard during vacation will also be published.

Last week, Chief Justice of India Dr. T.S. Thakur had suggested hearing and finalization of cases during summer vacations, if counsels from both sides are willing to take up the cases. He stated that in such a scenario, he would request Chief Justices of the High Courts to list the cases for hearing.
