Kochhar & Co. in a major boost to its BFSI practice has hired Sharmil Bhushan as a Partner along with her team in Mumbai. Sharmil specialises in banking & finance, debt restructuring and insolvency, mergers & acquisitions, private equity and investment funds.
With her extensive experience of over 16 years, Sharmil has been at the forefront of advising Indian and multinational banks, NBFCs, financial institutions and corporates across sectors on various aspects of Indian law. She has been actively involved in (i) credit facilities to Indian borrowers for capital expenditure, project & acquisition financing, leveraged buyouts, trade finance & external commercial borrowings, real estate financing, etc. and (ii) structuring and implementing debt, quasi-debt and equity transactions. Sharmil has substantial experience in security enforcement assignments and the insolvency resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and in devising and implementing exit strategies from Indian investments. She also advises on setting up of private equity funds, offshore funds, venture capital funds, Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
