DIFC Court Of Appeal Judge, H.E. Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi And 39 Essex Chambers', Mr. Abhinav Bhushan Join IAMC, Hyderabad’s Governing Council

His Excellency Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi, Court of Appeal Judge and Judge in Charge of the Arbitration Division, DIFC Court and Abhinav Bhushan, Chief Executive, Asia & Member, International Arbitrator, 39 Essex Chambers join the Governing Council of the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, Hyderabad. They will be joining global arbitration experts such as Sir Bernard Eder, Mr. Toby Landau and Dr E Y Park amongst others who are members of the IAMC Governing Council.
The Registrar of IAMC, Tariq Khan said “We are absolutely delighted to have Justice Shamlan and Abhinav Bhushan on the Governing Council and I am confident that their extensive expertise in the field of dispute resolution will be of great benefit. We look forward to working with them.”
His Excellency Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi, Judge, DIFC Courts, UAE has had a distinguished career, having experience over 23 years in international commercial and financial litigation in common, civil and Shariah laws. He was appointed as Court of Appeal Judge in 2017 and appointed by the DIFC Courts Chief Justice as Judge in charge of the Arbitration. Justice Shamlan also served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chairman of many arbitral tribunals.
Mr. Abinav Bhushan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the council and is well-respected in the legal community for their expertise in arbitration. He was the Director for South Asia at ICC International Court of Arbitration and is the co-chair of ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF), Asia Chapter. Before joining ICC, Mr. Abhinav completed his LLM at Columbia Law School and earned a certificate in foreign and comparative law. He was also a member of the Columbia International Arbitration Association.
The Governing Council is responsible for promoting the objectives of the Centre and of international commercial arbitration and mediation.
