KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, has established itself as a prominent institution for legal education, advocacy and experiential learning. The School has consistently promoted practical legal education through various academic and advocacy initiatives and has developed a strong culture of trial advocacy since 2015.
Continuing this tradition, the Trial and Appellate Advocacy Society (TAAS) has announced the 8th KIIT Mock Trial Competition, 2026, inviting law students from across India to participate in a rigorous and immersive trial advocacy experience.
About the Competition
The 8th KIIT Mock Trial Competition, 2026, organised by the Trial and Appellate Advocacy Society, KIIT School of Law, is a national-level trial advocacy competition designed to provide participants with practical exposure to courtroom proceedings and the skills required for effective trial advocacy.
The competition will test participants on procedural law, legal research, witness examination and cross-examination, evidentiary handling, case preparation, memorial drafting and persuasive oral advocacy.
Through a simulated courtroom environment, participants will have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their ability to analyse complex legal issues, formulate case theories, examine witnesses and present compelling arguments before a panel of judges.
Competition Structure
The 8th KIIT Mock Trial Competition, 2026 will be conducted entirely in physical mode at KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar, from 30 October to 1 November 2026.
- 30 October: Inauguration, Draw of Lots and Researcher's Test
- 31 October: Preliminary Rounds and Quarter-Finals
- 1 November: Semi-Finals, Finals, Valedictory Ceremony and Prize Distribution
The competition will accommodate 30 teams on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of two teams per institution.
Eligibility & Team Composition
The competition is open to students pursuing 3-Year LL.B. or 5-Year Integrated LL.B. programmes from BCI-approved institutions across India.
Each team shall consist of three members, comprising 2 Speakers and 1 Researcher.
Note: Witnesses will be provided by the Organising Committee.
Prizes & Awards
The competition offers a total of ₹2,15,000+ in cash prizes, along with trophies and merit certificates.

Note: The Organising Committee reserves the right to extend the registration and memorial submission deadlines, if required.
Registration
Registration Fee: ₹6,000 per team
The registration fee includes food and accommodation for participating teams.

Provisional Registration: Institutions, their concerned societies/cells, or interested participants must send an email to klstaas@kls.ac.in to provisionally register and lock their slot. Provisional registration will secure the slot subject to the completion of final registration within the prescribed deadline. Failure to complete the final registration within the deadline may result in cancellation of the provisional slot.
