CNLU Patna Announces 17th National Parliamentary Debate; Registrations Open

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna was established in 2006 with a steadfast commitment to advancing legal education, research, and legal awareness. The University's Academic and Debating Committee (ADC), one of its oldest and most distinguished student bodies, has played a pivotal role in fostering debating, quizzing, literary activities, and academic excellence, while consistently representing CNLU on national and international platforms.
Details About the Event
The 17th CNLU National Parliamentary Debate (CNLU PD) is the flagship debating tournament organised by the Academic and Debating Committee of Chanakya National Law University. Building upon a legacy of sixteen successful editions, the tournament seeks to promote critical thinking, persuasive advocacy, and intellectual engagement through the Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) format. The competition follows a 3-versus-3 format, with teams representing the Government and Opposition benches, and comprises preliminary rounds followed by the outrounds. Participants are allotted 30 minutes of preparation time before each round, including 5 minutes for motion ranking and 25 minutes for case preparation, with the use of the internet and other online resources being strictly prohibited during preparation. The tournament will be conducted from 11th to 13th September, 2026, with accommodation arranged in a hotel, transportation between the railway station/airport and the CNLU campus, and meals for all three days being provided to participants

· 12th September, 2026: Rounds 3, 4 & 5, Break Announcement, and Break Night with DJ.
· 13th September, 2026: Outrounds, Finals, and Valedictory Ceremony.
Prizes
Prize Pool of ₹2,64,000, including:
· Winners – ₹1,00,000
· Runners-up – ₹60,000
· Semi-finalists – ₹36,000 (₹18,000 each)
· Best Speaker – ₹15,000
· Best Adjudicator – ₹15,000
· 2nd Best Adjudicator – ₹9,000
· 3rd Best Adjudicator – ₹6,000
· Novice Winner – ₹18,000
· Best Novice Speaker – ₹5,000
Eligibility
The tournament is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised institutions.
Location and Venue
The 17th CNLU National Parliamentary Debate will be conducted in the offline mode at the Chanakya National Law University campus, Patna.
Registration Procedure
Interested participants may register for the tournament through the official registration link provided by the organisers. The tournament has a team cap of 34 teams and follows an N = N adjudicator policy, requiring institutions to provide one adjudicator for every team entered.
Fee Details
The registration fee is ₹3,000 per participant, inclusive of accommodation.
