[Advt.] One Credit Course On Agreement On Agriculture Under WTO By NLUO [CITL] [Register By 30th June]

National Law University Odisha's Centre for International Trade Law will be conducting a one-credit course on the Agreement on Agriculture under the WTO from July 7, to July 18, 2025. Since the agriculture sector is the backbone of the economy, there are special rules relating to its trade and government support under the Agreement on Agriculture. The proposed course will include discussion on the WTO law on trade in agricultural products, the permissible limit of governmental support, and issues being debated, such as subsidies, public stockholding, etc.

The course would be conducted by reputed trade experts, Prof. Abhijit Das and Prof. Sachin Sharma. Prof. Abhijit Das is an international trade expert with two and a half decades of experience in international trade and WTO in various capacities, including five years in trade policy making in the Government of India and twelve years as the Head of the Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. He has participated directly in many multilateral and FTA negotiations, including the WTO Doha Round and OECD Steel Subsidies negotiations. He was a part of India's official delegation to six Ministerial Conferences of the WTO. Professor Sharma works at the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. He has more than 22 years of research experience with progressively increasing responsibilities as an economist and agricultural trade expert for domestic policies and multilateral & regional trade negotiations.

The course requirements are

Attendance: 75%

Evaluation: Examination at the end of the course for 50 Marks

Exam Timing: 2 Hours

Mode of Teaching- Online through google meet.

Duration of the Course:

• The course will be conducted from July 7, to July 18, 2025.
• Examination will be on July 21, 2025 in online mode.
• Timings (may be varied)- 5 pm to 7 pm generally
• Declaration of Results- by July 31, 2025
• Issue of Certificates- by August 15, 2025
