About the 16th Government Law College International Law Summit
SPIL, Mumbai is pleased to formally present the 16th Government Law College International Law Summit, 2026 which is being held on the 6th and 7th of March 2026. The Summit stands as a distinguished academic forum, engaging with the most pressing issues in international law through thoughtful discussions and innovative competitions.
The Summit brings together eminent scholars, practitioners, and jurists who offer depth and perspective through interactive lectures, panel discussions, and competition adjudication. Such presence provides attendees the privilege of engaging directly with leading voices in the field and fostering a nuanced understanding of contemporary developments in international law.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of the 16th Government Law College International Law Summit will be held on the 6th of March 2026, at 9:00 a.m., marking the formal commencement of the Summit. The ceremony will begin with an opening address by Dr. Smt. Asmita Vaidya, Principal of Government Law College, Mumbai, followed by Mr. Rohit Bokil, Assistant Professor at GLC, Mumbai, who also serves as the Faculty In-Charge of SPIL, Mumbai.
Keynote Address
The Keynote Address is one of the most important segments of the 16th Government Law College International Law Summit 2026, which will be held on the 6th of March 2026 at 9.30 a.m. This year's theme for the summit is “International Trade Law”, and the address aims to give a clear and critical overview of the changing global trade landscape. Through careful analysis and forward-looking views, the Keynote prepares the ground for meaningful discussions throughout the Summit.
About the Speaker
Dr. James J. Nedumpara is Professor and Head of the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi. In this capacity he advises the Government of India on various aspects relating to international trade and investment law. He was also part of the Indian delegation that appeared in the recent proceedings on India- Agricultural Products (Avian Influenza dispute). In addition to this, Dr. James has taught courses in international trade law as a visiting faculty at FGV Law School, São Paolo,Brazil, NLSIU, Bangalore and the CWS-WTI Joint Summer Academy. He has also served visiting fellowships in several law schools and has published several books and journal articles in the field of trade law.
