CCLG, DNLU Jabalpur Organised Corporate Law Summit 2025

The Centre for Corporate Laws and Governance (CCLG), Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, organised the 1st Corporate Law Summit 2025 on 15 and 16 November 2025. The Summit was conducted in virtual mode to enable wider participation from students, researchers, and professionals across India.
The theme of the Summit revolved around Corporate Governance, ESG, Sustainability, Accountability, and Emerging Challenges in Corporate Law. The event brought together academicians, legal practitioners, industry professionals, and student researchers. It featured two panel discussions and nine technical sessions, with more than 80 research paper presentations selected from submissions received nationwide.
1. Inaugural Session
The Summit commenced at 10:00 AM with the welcome address by Dr Shruti Nandwana, Director, CCLG, who outlined the vision behind the initiative and the importance of legal research in shaping corporate governance frameworks.
Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, DNLU, delivered the Inaugural Address. He spoke about the increasing relevance of ESG parameters, ethical corporate conduct, digital accountability, and the ongoing transformation of India's corporate law landscape.
2. Panel Discussion – Day 1
Theme: Capital and Conscience: ESG Investing and the Future of Corporate Finance
Panellists: Mr Vikas Kumar Jha, Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas & AOR, Supreme Court of India; and Prof. (Dr.) Kiran Rai, Associate Professor, RMLNLU.
The panel examined global trends in ESG-oriented investment models, regulatory developments in India, and the challenges companies face in integrating sustainability with commercial objectives. Discussions included green finance, SEBI's ESG framework, and evolving investor expectations.
3. Technical Sessions
Across the two days, nine technical sessions were conducted featuring over eighty research presentations. The sessions covered topics such as ESG governance, CSR frameworks, shareholder activism, digital accountability, cross-border insolvency, corporate fraud, white-collar crime, AI-driven market regulation, and developments in securities law.
Chaired by academicians and practitioners, the sessions encouraged participants to refine their arguments and engage in detailed discussions. Presentations reflected diverse perspectives, including doctrinal analysis, comparative approaches, and empirical studies. The sessions also highlighted the evolving regulatory environment and the growing need for accountability, technology-aware governance, and ethical corporate practices.
4. Panel Discussion – Day 2
Theme: Trust in Turbulence: Corporate Ethics in the Age of Scandal
Panellists: Prof. (Dr.) Kondaiah Jonnalagadda, MNLU Chennai; Prof. (Dr.) Girjesh Shukla, HPNLU Shimla; and Mr Anchit Oswal, Partner, Khaitan & Co.
This session focused on issues of corporate credibility amid rising incidents of fraud and whistle-blower disclosures. The discussion emphasised the need for stronger internal governance mechanisms, transparent disclosures, and heightened ethical responsibility. The panellists also discussed international trends in crisis management and corporate liability.
Organising Team
The Summit was coordinated under the guidance of Dr Shruti Nandwana, Director, CCLG, along with Convenor Kanishk Meshram, Co-Convenor Sarthak Mishra, and student members Ansh Sharma, Agrima Raman, Arpit Tiwari, Uma Pareek, Iqra Khan, Vasu Shrivastava, Anvesh Agrawal, Rimsha Wagle, Gaouriy, Labdhi Jain, Sathvika Reddy, Vishnupriya Porwal, and Co-opts.
The student team facilitated technical sessions, panel transitions, communication, documentation, and coordination with speakers. The online format enabled participation from students and scholars representing over 30 law universities, as well as professionals from leading law firms such as CAM, SAM, Khaitan & Co., Trilegal, LKS, and Singhania & Co.
