Hidayatullah National University of Law (HNLU) ranked 5th among the National Law Universities in the country by India Today magazine and a premier institute of the State of Chhattisgarh is all set to host its Fifth on July 31st, 2022, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Hotel Babylon Capital, Raipur.
Justice N.V. Ramana, Chief Justice of India has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the Convocation and will deliver the Convocation Address. Justice Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister, State of Chhattisgarh has kindly consented to grace the event as the Guest of Honor Justice Shri S Abdul Nazeer, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Visitor, HNLU will preside over the ceremony and Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Chancellor, HNLU will award the Degrees.
Other notable dignitaries include M.R.Shah, Judge, Supreme Court, Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Judge, Supreme Court, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Sanjay K Agrawal, Justice P. Sam Koshy, Honorable Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Justice (Retd.) G.Raghuram (former Director of NJA Bhopal) and Shri Satish Chandra Verma, Advocate General of Chhattisgarh to attend the convocation. Prominent Academicians attending the function include Prof. Ranbir Singh former Vice Chancellor of NLU Delhi and NALSAR, Prof, Paramjit S Jaswal Vice Chancellor of SRM University, Sonepat, Prof. K.L.Verma, Vice Chancellor of Ravi Shankar Shukla University of Raipur. Eminent lawyers to attend the function include Mr. R.Venkataramani, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court, Mr.Govind Miri, Senior Advocate of High Court of Chhattisgarh & Supreme Court.
Prof.V.C.Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU said, "The Convocation will witness conferment of degrees upon 160 students from the B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Batch of 2015-2020, 147 students from the B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Batch of 2016-2021, 49 students from the LL.M. Batch of 2019 – 2020, 61 students from the LL.M. Batch 2020-2021 and 4 students for Ph.D."
During the Convocation Ceremony, a total of 23 students will be awarded with Gold Medals for their outstanding performance in academics in HNLU which includes, the Chancellor's Gold Medal, The University's Gold Medal, Chhattisgarh State Bar Council Gold Medal, The Late Kamal Narayan Sharma Gold Medal, Late Smt. Shanti Devi Agarwal Memorial Gold Medal, Shri Vidyadhar Mishra Memorial Gold Medal, Dinesh Prasad Srivastava Memorial Gold Medal, Late Shri Hamidullah Khan Ex-MLA Kabir Dham Gold Medal, Late K.P. Munshi Gold Medal, Syed Wakil Ahmed Rizvi Gold Medal, amongst other significant medals.
The University ranked 5th among National Law Universities by the India Today and 50/100 among the world universities for real contribution to society during 2021 and 2022 by the World Universities Real Impact (WURI) is constantly contributing towards advancement of legal education in the state and collaborating with government bodies for numerous research and outreach initiatives.
