The programme formed part of the nationwide observance of National Road Safety Month (1–31 January) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Legal Aid and Social Services Committee and the Pro Bono Club, HNLU.

The awareness session was conducted by Shri Sanjay Manhare and Shri Tomesh Kumar Sahu, instructors from IDTR Chhattisgarh. Through interactive discussions, data-based explanations, and audio-visual demonstrations, the trainers discussed the major causes of road accidents, including over-speeding, drunk driving, mobile phone usage while driving, red-light violations, and failure to use helmets and seat belts.

Dr. Kaumudhi Challa, Faculty Co-ordinator, Legal Aid and Social Services Committee, emphasized that road safety awareness is an important aspect of social responsibility and safe driving requires awareness, patience, and respect for traffic laws. She reminded students that as future legal professionals, they have a responsibility to follow traffic rules.

The trainers explained different road categories and the need to follow the speed limits applicable to each. The importance of traffic signals, especially the amber light and stop line discipline, was highlighted. The session also covered the Golden Hour principle and encouraged students to assist accident victims responsibly. Demonstrative videos showed how helmets and seat belts greatly reduce injuries and save lives.

The programme had a welcome address by Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar I/C, HNLU, who emphasized that disciplined road behaviour and adherence to traffic rules make societies safer and is a part of our civic responsibility.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Parvesh Rajput, Faculty Co-ordinator, Pro Bono Club, who expressed gratitude to the IDTR team for their valuable time and expertise, the University administration for their support, and the students for their active participation. The session reinforced HNLU's continued commitment to community engagement, legal awareness, and socially relevant education beyond the classroom.
