    Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, celebrated National Sports Day 2026 through a special event organised by the Sports Committee, HPNLU, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and MY Bharat.

    The event was organised as part of the nationwide initiative “Khelo India Samvaad – Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath” and focused on promoting sports, fitness, youth engagement, and nation-building. It reflected the Government of India's vision of creating a robust sporting ecosystem through the Khelo India Movement while linking sports and fitness with the broader goals of Nasha Mukt Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.

    The programme was graced by Mr. Vipin Kumar, Deputy Director, MY Bharat, along with Ms. Anjali, Volleyball Coach, and accomplished volleyball players Ms. Tanisha and Ms. Anjali. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vipin Kumar highlighted various youth-centric initiatives of the Government of India and explained how the MY Bharat platform enables young people to participate in sports, volunteering, cultural activities, policymaking, and nation-building initiatives. He emphasised that active youth participation is essential to achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.

    Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena encouraged students to remain committed to their academic and professional goals while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Highlighting the dangers of substance abuse, she urged students to dedicate themselves to learning, discipline, and self-development rather than allowing drugs and other harmful influences to derail their future. She appreciated the efforts of the Sports Committee in organising the event and underscored the role of sports in shaping responsible, confident, and resilient citizens.

    A panel discussion featuring sports personalities provided valuable insights into India's evolving sports culture. Ms. Anjali shared her journey as a sportsperson and reflected on the role of mentors and coaches in nurturing young talent. Ms. Tanisha spoke about the growing support systems available to athletes, particularly in the areas of nutrition, training, and recovery. The speakers also discussed the increasing competitiveness and ambition among Indian athletes, as well as the opportunities available to young people through sports.

    The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and served as a platform to promote awareness about fitness, sporting excellence, and the importance of a drug-free lifestyle. It was coordinated by Dr. Ved Prakash, Faculty Chairperson, Sports Committee, along with the student team. The programme concluded with a collective resolve to promote sports, fitness, and healthy living as integral components of personal growth and national development.
