The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA, Assam) will hold its Fourth Convocation Ceremony on 10 October 2026 at the Sri Sri Damodardeva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. The ceremony will commence at 11:00 AM.

The convocation will mark an important occasion in the academic life of the University, with graduating students and research scholars set to formally receive their degrees upon completion of their respective programmes of study and research.

Justice Vikram Nath of the Supreme Court of India will be the Chief Guest, while Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, also a Judge of the Supreme Court, will be the Guest of Honour. Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and Chancellor of NLUJA, Assam, will also be present on the occasion.

A total of 107 graduands and scholars will be conferred degrees at the Convocation. The University will confer the B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree upon 53 graduands, the One-Year LL.M. Degree upon 48 graduands, and the Ph.D. Degree upon 6 research scholars. Together, the graduating cohorts represent the continuum of legal education at NLUJA, Assam—from integrated professional legal education and advanced postgraduate study to doctoral research and scholarship.

The Fourth Convocation also comes at a significant juncture in the University's institutional development. During the academic year, NLUJA, Assam has witnessed further expansion in its academic programmes and student intake, welcomed a new cohort of doctoral scholars, and deepened its engagement with legal scholarship, professional institutions, the judiciary and the wider community. These developments have been accompanied by continued investment in the University's physical and student-support infrastructure, including the completion and inauguration of a 300-bedded Student Hostel, substantially augmenting the residential facilities available to students.

The occasion thus brings together two dimensions of university life: the culmination of an individual academic endeavour and the continuing evolution of the institution in which that endeavour has taken place. For the graduating students and scholars, the Convocation marks the formal transition from a period of structured learning and research to the professional, academic and public responsibilities that accompany their respective qualifications.

The University regards the conferment of a degree not merely as the conclusion of a course of study, but as the beginning of a larger obligation. Legal education carries with it a particular responsibility to understand law not only as a body of rules, but as an instrument of justice and an institution of public trust. The graduands and scholars of NLUJA, Assam will therefore leave the University carrying with them not only the distinction of their academic achievement, but also the responsibility to employ their learning with professional competence, intellectual integrity, sensitivity to human concerns and an abiding commitment to justice.

The Fourth Convocation accordingly stands as both a celebration of achievement and a moment of transition—as the University confers its degrees and the graduating cohorts embark upon the next chapter of their professional and scholarly journeys.
