Lawyers Collective Initiative on Patent Status Information

Lawyers Collective, a leading public interest service provider has come up with an innovative initiative by creating a searchable patent information status for key medicines in India. The patent status information of all robust patent applications will be made available. The available details include the drug name, patent application number and name, title, date of priority, status of the application, date of filing, first examination report etc.  It is created by collecting information from other publicly available databases like the USFDA, EMEA, DCGI, USPTO, Espacenet, WIPO-Patentscope etc.

Access to Medicines is one of the major fields of research and study by Lawyers Collective. The ‘Access to Medicines team’ include Julie George, Prathibha Sivasubramanian and Ramya Sheshadri. At present, the data pool is limited to select set of drugs although they look forward to expanding it. This database will add to the existing initiatives by Medicines Patent Pool and I-MAK.
