The Bombay High Court recently quashed a ‘molestation’ complaint after the complainant approached the court and submitted that her grandchild had lied.

Complaining that her grandchild was sexually abused by the accused, the lady had approached the police station. An FIR was registered against the accused for the offences punishable under Sections 354 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Sections 8, 12 and 21 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Later, she approached the high court seeking to quash the complaint and submitted before the court that she realised that whatever story was narrated by the victim/her grand-daughter was false and concocted.

The bench comprising Justice Ranjit More and Justice Bharati H Dangre interacted with the woman and her grandchild. They told the bench that the incident never occurred and the girl had made false narration of the same at the instance of her father and maternal uncle and aunty.

The bench then quashed the FIR.
