  • National Seminar on Tribal Protection and Welfare: Issues and Challenges at The School of Legal Studies, CUSAT
    A Three day UGC Sponsored National Seminar on Tribal Protection and Welfare: Issues and Challenges is being organized by the School of Legal Studies from 9th to 11th March, 2017. Papers are invited from the academicians, practitioners, researchers, scholars, activists, and Ph.D. students on the issues related to the relevant areas of study.

    The objective of the seminar is to understand the tribal welfare concerns and developmental issues, social and institutional dimensions of delivering development programs in tribal areas.

    Venue: SLS Auditorium, School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology

    Sub-themes:

    • International recognition of aborigines, indigenous people and tribes.

    • Protection of Tribal’s under the Indian Constitution and other Laws.

    • Recognition and Inclusion of tribal customs and practices.

    • Law and protection of Tribal Women and Children.

    • Environmental Issues and Health concerns of Tribes.

    • Administration of Justice in Scheduled areas.

    • Protection and preservation of Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Expressions of Tribes.

    • Policy decisions on Economic and Welfare Program’s for Scheduled

    • Contribution of judiciary in protection of the rights of Tribes.


    Submission Guidelines:

    • An abstract not exceeding 500 words shall be submitted for consideration.

    • Abstracts will be subjected to review and only those abstracts approved by the reviewers shall be submitted as full paper for the purpose of presentation at the seminar.

    • Word limit for full paper shall be 2500-3500. The final paper must contain a cover page with a brief profile of the authors with E-mail ID, Contact number and address for communication. The papers must follow a uniform format of research writing including the foot note and Times New Roman, Font Size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. Foot notes should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 10 with single line spacing

    • All the abstracts and full length papers shall be sent on email id: slstribalseminar@gmail.com


    Important Dates: 

    • Last Date for Submission of Abstracts- 21st February, 2017

    • Communication of Approved Abstracts- 22nd February, 2017

    • Last Date for Submission of Full Research Paper- 2nd March, 2017


    Registration Fee:

    • A fee of maximum Rs 1000/- will be levied from Professionals and Academicians.

    • A fee of maximum Rs 500/- will be levied from students and Research Scholars.


    Fee is exempted for paper presenters and participants from CUSAT.
