70 Judicial Officers in Lucknow today cycled to Court following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation amid the rising global energy crisis linked to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran.
This unique campaign, started under the leadership of District Judge Malkhan Singh, was flagged off by Justice Rajesh Chauhan of the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench).
All the judges gathered at the District Judge's residence, from where they left for the Court on bicycles at 9 am. During this, all the judges conveyed a message about fuel conservation and environmental protection to the common people.
Certain advocates and court clerks also joined the campaign. Some judicial officers even opted for e-rickshaws to reach the court premises.
Justice Chauhan, who was also seen cycling for some time, described it as a positive initiative.
PTI quoted Justice Chauhan as saying: “Actually, this is our sincere concern with the nation. Actually, in the consideration and the interest of the nation is paramount. When we came to know that there's some little crisis regarding this fuel etc. then we decided that one all judicial officers should at least go to the court at least one day in a week, so that it would be not only the initiative, but it would be a good gesture of the judicial officers. And it is necessary because interest of the nation is, I again repeat, paramount,”
