The Awadh Bar Association, Lucknow has written a letter to the Acting Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Sanjay Yadav requesting him to direct the conversion of lawyers chamber & Hospital situated within the HC premises into a temporary COVID Hospital.

Importantly, the association has requested that Block D, E, F of Advocates Chamber, Multilevel Parking and Auditorium should be used to create a temporary 100-Bed COVID Hospital.

The letter addressed to the Acting Chief Justice and sent by the President of Bar, H.G.S Parihar, states that more than 10,000 lawyers are practicing in High Court's Lucknow Bench and that such lawyers, their assistants and High Court officers need medical help.

It also informs that due to lack of treatment, the Association has lost many of its members in recent times.

Therefore, the letter seeks direction to the State Government so that in order to provide adequate medical/ health care to lawyers, the existing hospital within the High Court premises be converted into 100-bed COVID hospital and Block D, E, F of Advocates Chamber, Multilevel Parking, and the auditorium be used for the same.

The letter further requests that 100 cylinders of oxygen be also made available for emergency situations.

In related news, the Supreme Court Bar Association has written to Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana requesting his urgent approval for temporary conversion of Advocates Chamber Block in the Supreme Court Complex to be used as a covid care center or field hospital.

Highlighting the demise of various members due to the second corona wave, the letter also focuses on the "lack of medical infrastructure in and around Delhi" due to which many lives of such members and their family members are being lost.

Last week, Gujarat High Court's Chief Justice Vikram Nath had given the permission to the Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association to use High Court's Auditorium for setting up Covid Care Center.
