Actor Assault Case: Dileep Files Objection Against Prosecution's Plea Seeking Extension Of Time To Complete Further Investigation

Actor Dileep has filed an objection before the Kerala High Court, against the plea moved by Crime Branch seeking more time to complete further investigation in the 2017 sexual assault case. The objection filed through Advocate Philip T. Varghese has alleged that the ongoing probe is a sham investigation designed to ensure that the judicial officer who recorded the evidence of the witnesses does not pronounce the verdict in the case.Dileep, who is the 8th accused in the case, has also alleged that the sole purpose for filing the Criminal miscellaneous case was to spread canards against the officers who are integral in the justice dispensation system in this case. The investigating agency had recently sought an extension of 3 weeks for the collection of the cloned copy of the memory card which contains visuals of the assault, and also for questioning of former Director General of Police R Sreelekha, who had made remarks favouring one of the accused in the case. It is also alleged in the objection filed that the plea for report on the change in hash value was only a ruse to lay hands on the memory card which was in the custody of the court and to use the FSL, an establishment under Kerala Police Department to manufacture a false and fabricated report. Furthermore, Dileep had argued that allowing more time to the police for further investigation on the finding in the FSL report will amount to a clear case of altering and modifying the specific directions given in the judgment in the original petition, whereby it was held that access to a document after it was produced in the court could not be a matter of investigation or relevant for investigation or relevant for the investigation. it is alleged that even though this judgment is binding on the investigating agency is using the manipulated FSL to scandalise the court and also to make it a ground to delay the sham further investigation in the case. The plea also objects to the extension on the argument that the time fixed by the court for completion of the trial has passed, and the Court is erred in showing unwarranted benevolence to the investigating agency.
