The Kapila & Nirmal Hingorani Foundation has announced the recipients of the Kapila & Nirmal Hingorani Foundation Pegasus Scholarships, 2026, awarding the prestigious opportunity to two young advocates following a competitive selection process that drew a large number of applications.

The Foundation said Ms. Rini Mehra, Advocate, and Ms. Tanvi Sharma, Advocate, have been selected for the two scholarships.

The Kapila & Nirmal Hingorani Foundation Pegasus Scholarship, a joint initiative between the Kapila & Nirmal Hingorani Foundation and the Pegasus Scholarship Trust, is aimed at giving young lawyers in India first-hand exposure to the functioning of the legal system in England and Wales over a period of eight weeks.

Under the programme, scholars spend three to four weeks each at two different barristers' chambers in London that practise in the scholar's preferred area of law. The placements offer opportunities to observe advocacy in action and assist with legal research and drafting.

The scholarship also typically includes visits to key legal institutions such as the UK Supreme Court, the High Court, and the Old Bailey, where scholars may be hosted by a judge for the day.

The Foundation said scholars are provided a stipend to cover living expenses and assistance in securing accommodation in London. However, the scholarship does not cover return airfare, visa expenses, travel-related costs, or medical and travel insurance.

Noting the overwhelming response to this year's programme, the Foundation said the selection process was highly competitive and involved consideration of multiple factors.

In the event either selected scholar is unable to avail of the opportunity, the scholarship will be offered in sequence to Mr. Amandeep Mehta, Advocate, and Mr. Rishabh Nigam, Advocate, who have been placed on the waitlist.
