    Madhya Pradesh State Judicial Academy, Jabalpur organized a maiden event – "All India State Judicial Academies Directors' Retreat". This Retreat is the first of its kind event held in this country. All the Presidents/Judges In-charge/ Chairmen and Directors of 24 State Judicial Academies throughout the country are participating in the two days event.

     The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest who inaugurated the event. The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Smt. Anandiben Patel, Chief Justice of India Shri Sharad Arvind Bobde and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Shri Justice N.V. Ramana, Shri Justice Ashok Bhushan, Shri Justice Hemant Gupta and Shri Justice S. Ravindra Bhat,  Judges of Supreme Court of India. Chief Justices of various High Courts and Chairmen & Judges In-charge of all the State Judicial Academies, Judges of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Former Chief Justices & Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Directors of various State Judicial Academies of the country, Senior Advocates and Office Bearers of Bar, Chief Secretary and other officers of State Govt. attended the inaugural ceremony.

    This programme "All India State Judicial Academies Directors' Retreat" was conceived to provide a forum to all stake holders of judicial education of the country to sit on a common platform and share each others' expertise and best practices so that the best amongst them can be utilized by all. The object behind organizing Directors' Retreat was to discuss judicial education, its challenges and emerging trends as well as to share best practices prevalent amongst all the State Judicial Academies of the country to enhance the overall Judicial Excellence. The overall aim is to come forward with a uniform pattern of continuing judicial education in this country.

    The Retreat was scheduled on 6th and 7th March 2021 at Madhya Pradesh State Judicial Academy, Jabalpur where all the Presidents/Judges In-charge/ Chairmen and Directors of 24 State Judicial Academies of the country will on different issues and opportunities. The discussion shall be on the following topics :

    1. Continuous Judicial Education: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities

    2. Complex Demand of Judging Skills

    3. Adult Learning Andragogy in Judicial Education: Special Reference to Induction and Orientation Courses

    4. Gender Sensitization, Justness and Social Media: Nascent Challenges of Judicial Educational

    5. Sharing of Best Practices by State Judicial Academies.

    This programme also included the release of Hindi version of the book titled "Courts of India: Past & Present" published by Supreme Court of India, the release of Hindi version of book titled "Judicial History and Courts of Madhya Pradesh" published by High Court of Madhya Pradesh. These books were released by Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Chief Justice of India and Justice N.V. Ramana, Judge, Supreme Court of India respectively.

    Both these texts are unique examples of the effort to present India's judicial legacy to the present and future generations. Taking inspiration from the views expressed by Shri Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, while compiling information for the publication of the book "Courts of India: Past to Present" published by the Supreme Court, the Madhya Pradesh High Court published the book "Judicial History and Courts of Madhya Pradesh". That  book was released by Shri Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde himself in September 2020. After the release of the English version, in an effort to make the above information accessible to the general public by translating the same into lucid Hindi language, the objective is to convey this historical heritage to as many people as possible.

    This programme also included release of book ILR Full Bench Digest (1956 to 2020) which is a collection of judgments of Full Bench of High Court of Madhya Pradesh published by the ILR Section of High Court of Madhya Pradesh. The book was released by Justice Ashok Bhushan, Judge, Supreme Court of India. These books are available for sale from the ILR Section ofthe High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
