Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Inaugurates New ADR & Advocate Chamber Buildings At Prayagraj District Court

The District Judgeship of Prayagraj achieved a proud milestone in its judicial infrastructure on March 27, 2026, with the inauguration of a newly constructed Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Building and the Block-B Advocate's Chamber Building at the District Court.
The inauguration marks a strategic commitment to enhancing the "Ease of Justice" for common citizens and elevating the professional dignity of the Bar.
75 chambers were allotted to seat 300 advocates, while the new ADR building is equipped with mediation cubicles and ancillary infrastructure. The event underscored that these structures are not merely physical expansions but represent a modernised approach to the delivery of justice.
The ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, led by the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Arun Bhansali. He was accompanied by Justice MC Tripathi, Senior Judge, Judge-in-Charge of the Infrastructure Committee, and Executive Chairman of the UP State Legal Services Authority (UP-SLSA), as well as Justice Shekhar B. Saraf, the Administrative Judge of the Prayagraj Sessions Division.
Other notable attendees included Justices Piyush Agrawal, Saurabh Srivastava, and Nand Prabha Shukla, all members of the Committee for Mediation and Conciliation Centre.
The Registrar General of the Allahabad High Court, senior judicial officers of the Prayagraj Judgeship, the Member Secretary of the UP-SLSA, the District Magistrate, members of the Bar and court staff were also present for the historic event.
Following a ceremonial welcome featuring bouquets and live plants, the formal inauguration began at the entrance of the Block-B Advocate's Chamber Building. This was followed by a second unveiling of a stone plaque at the ADR Building, detailing the project's timeline and the presiding dignitaries.
A formal tour allowed dignitaries to inspect the new facilities. The modern design, adequate amenities, and thoughtful planning were widely appreciated. The ADR Building was specifically noted as a state-of-the-art venue for mediation sessions and conferences, offering a conducive environment for amicable dispute resolution.
Satya Prakash Tripathi, District and Sessions Judge, Prayagraj, delivered the welcome address, acknowledging the visionary oversight and persistent encouragement of the High Court dignitaries in realizing these infrastructure goals.
The President of the Bar Association highlighted the pressing need for modern infrastructure. He emphasized that the new chambers would provide much-needed workspace, enhancing efficiency and professional collaboration. He also noted the ADR Building's pivotal role in promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, thereby reducing the burden on courts and ensuring timely justice.
In his address, Chief Justice Arun Bhansali underscored the importance of robust infrastructure designed to streamline pre-litigation and mediation processes. He highlighted the goal of reducing case pendency through consensus-based settlements.
The Chief Justice also impressed upon all stakeholders the need to fast-track other infrastructural proposals and appreciated the timely execution of the current project.
The dignitaries observed that the ADR mechanism represents the future of dispute resolution, offering a faster, cost-effective, and amicable approach. They encouraged Bar members to actively engage in mediation, arbitration, and conciliation.
It was noted that the well-equipped chambers would ensure the “Dignity of Practice” for advocates, while the ADR Building would offer a "Harmony Zone" where conflicts can be resolved in a confidential and stress-free setting, preserving social relationships.
Advocates present expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the day as one of professional liberation and appreciating the new space that respects their role as “Officers of the Court.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Justice Shekhar B Saraf, Administrative Judge, Prayagraj. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Justice and other Judges for their continued support of judicial infrastructure development and thanked all who contributed to the project's success.
The new facilities stand as a testament to the collective commitment of the judiciary and the Bar to enhancing legal services and promoting efficient dispute resolution, making the Prayagraj District Court a beacon of modern judicial excellence in Uttar Pradesh.
