In the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik BPO sexual harassment and religious coercion case, a sessions court in Nashik on Saturday (May 2) refused to grant pre-arrest protection to accused Nida Khan, who had sought anticipatory bail plea citing her pregnancy.
Additional Sessions Judge KG Joshi had heard the arguments put forth by Khan's legal counsel comprising advocate Baba Sayyed and also the special public prosecutor who made submissions on behalf of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) opposing Khan's plea for anticipatory bail on April 27.
Confirming the development, Sayyed, said, "The judge pronounced the order today afternoon and rejected the anticipatory bail plea. A detailed copy of the order would be made available later."
Among several other grounds that she raised before the court seeking pre-arrest bail, she highlighted the ground that she is pregnant.
The arrested accused are- Mohammad Danish Sheikh (booked for allegedly luring a victim under the false promise of marriage and pressured others into religious practices), Shafi Bikhan Sheikh, Raza Rafiq Memon (team leader accused of intimidating staff and making obscene remarks about female colleagues), Tausif Attar, Shahrukh Qureshi, and Asif Aftab Ansari (Senior employees implicated in various FIRs for alleged stalking, harassment, and forced religious conversion attempts.)
The police also arrested Ashwin Chainani, an Operations Manager of the POSH Committee, for alleged failure to address harassment complaints.
Last month the sessions court had refused to grant interim relief from arrest to Khan.
