Bengaluru Court Grants Bail To JDS Leader HD Revanna In Woman's Kidnapping Case

A Special court in Bengaluru on Monday granted bail to to Janta Dal (Secular) leader H D Revanna accused of kidnapping a woman.The court said, “Bail Application filed by the the petitioner under Sec.439 of Cr.P.C., in Cr.No.149/2024 registered by the respondent Police station for the offences punishable under Sec.364-A, 365 read with Sec.34 of IPC pending on the file of the learned XLII ACMM Court at Bengaluru is hereby allowed and the petitioner is hereby admitted to bail on executing a personal bond for Rs.5,00,000/- with two sureties to the satisfaction of the jurisdictional court.” The operative order passed by the court has imposed the following conditions on Revanna:a) The petitioner shall not threaten and tamper the prosecution witnesses or the complainant and victim.b) The petitioner shall not evade the Investigation and shall appear before the I.O. whenever called by him for the purpose of investigation.c) The petitioner shall furnish his passport to the Court and shall not leave the State Court without obtaining written permission from the Court.d) The petitioner shall not enter upon K.R.Nagar Taluk or the permanent place of residence of the victim directly or indirectly till further orders. e) The petitioner shall appear before the I.O. on every second Sunday of the month and mark his attendance between 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. for a period of 6 months or till the filing of charge sheet, whichever is earlier. f) The petitioner shall not indulge in similar offence. Office is directed to return the CD files to the prosecutionAs per the prosecution case, written information came to be filed before the K.R.Nagara Police Station on 2.5.2024 at about 9.00 p.m. in the night by the complainant stating that his mother was working in the house of accused No.1 for about six years and of late she had left the said job and was working as a daily wage labourer in their village.It was stated that about 3 to 4 days prior to Parliament Elections, accused No.2 Satish Babanna who was known to them had come to their house and had requested his mother to accompany him and later on she returned back on the date of election to the parliament seat. It is also narrated that on 29.04.2024 at about 9.00 p.m. once againIt was stated that accused No.2 Satish Babanna had come to their house and had requested her to accompany him as directed by the accused No.1 H.D.Revanna.It was also stated that the complainant's friend had brought to his notice the viral video that was circulated pertaining to the sexual assault on his mother and when he had requested accused No.2 Satish Babanna to send his mother back, he had declined to do so and apprehending about her safety and well being, he had lodged a complaint on 2.5.2024.Notably, according to local reports, the present kidnapping case is directly related to the charges levelled against HD Revanna's son, Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of multiple counts of sexual abuse against several women.Appearance: Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik.Senior Counsel C.V.
