    Having regard to the prevailing Covid19 situation in the State, the Calcutta High Court shall remain closed from July 20 (Monday) till July 22 (Wednesday) and on July 24 (Friday).     Having regard to the prevailing Covid19 situation in the State, the Calcutta High Court shall remain closed from July 20 (Monday) till July 22 (Wednesday) and on July 24 (Friday).

    Both judicial and administrative functioning of the High Court shall remain suspended during the aforesaid period and in case any extremely urgent matter is required to be taken up, the Advocate concerned shall be required to communicate the same to the Registrar General of the High Court.

    As mentioned in the notification issued in that behalf,

    "If any extremely urgent matter is required to be taken up during the aforesaid period, the advocate on record for the petitioner shall write a letter addressing the Registrar General pointing out the specific urgency in the matter. That shall be placed before the Hon'ble the Chief Justice. On being satisfied with regard to urgency, the Hon'ble Chief Justice may direct for holding of Court(s) on case to case basis. The sitting for such purpose shall be held from the residence of the Hon'ble Judge(s) concerned."

    It is further clarified that Courts, as determined by the Chief Justice, will sit on July 23, 2020 (Thursday).

    Judicial and administrative functioning of the Calcutta High Court was first suspended on July 10 until July 13. Later, the period of suspension was extended till July 19, 2020.
