The Calcutta High Court on Monday took on record the rejoinder filed by Advocate General Kishore Datta in response to the affidavit-in-reply filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pertaining to the Narada scam case. The affidavits purportedly detail the law and order situation in the State (outside the CBI office) on May 17, the date when the four TMC leaders were arrested.

The development comes after the Supreme Court set aside Calcutta High Court's order date June 9 where the Bench refused to take on record their affidavits saying that they waited for the arguments in the case to be substantially completed before seeking to place on record their pleadings in response.

Additional Solicitor General Y.J Dastoor on Monday sought the Court's leave to adjourn the matter for 10 days on the ground that the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was busy with certain important matters before the Supreme Court.

A 5 judge Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justices IP Mukherjee, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen and Arijit Banerjee accordingly adjourned the hearing to September 13 at 11 am for oral arguments.

During the hearing, Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal made a reference to the recent Supreme Court's directions that stipulate that in the interest of the right to speedy justice, time given for oral arguments must be limited and that if required a written note containing arguments may be permitted to be filed before the Court by the concerned parties.

Accordingly, the Court urged the concerned parties to complete the submission of oral arguments at the earliest.
