CBI Arrests Tis Hazari Courts Reader for Allegedly Demanding ₹30,000 Bribe To Facilitate Bail

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Reader attached to the court of Additional Sessions Judge-02 at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, in connection with a bribery case involving an alleged demand for money to facilitate the grant of bail.
According to a press release issued by the CBI on April 23, 2026, the agency registered a case against the accused based on a complaint alleging that the Reader demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 from a woman for facilitating the allowance of the bail application of her client.
The CBI laid a trap on April 23, 2026, during which the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹20,000 as part payment of the total bribe amount of ₹30,000 from the complainant. The accused has since been arrested.
The agency stated that further investigation in the matter is currently under way.
The CBI also reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against corrupt public servants and encouraged citizens to report instances of corruption or demands for bribes by public officials.
