    The Centre has appointed Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, senior-most Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from June 1, 2021.     The Centre has appointed Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, senior-most Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from June 1, 2021.

    The notification dated May 24 has been issued pursuant to upcoming retirement of Chief Justice PR Ramachandra Menon on May 31.

    Justice Mishra enrolled as an Advocate on September 4, 1987 and practiced in the District Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court and Chhattisgarh High Court. He served as an Additional Advocate General and Advocate General for the State of Chhattisgarh.

    He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on December 10, 2009 and as a Permanent Judge November 28, 2014.

    Justice Menon obtained his degree in Law from the Government Law College, Ernakulam in the year 1982 and enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1983.

    He was the Standing Counsel for the Central Government, UT of Lakshadweep, various States and Central Public Sector Undertakings and Special Prosecutor for the Customs & Central Excise.

    He was elevated as an Additional Judge of Kerala High Court on January 5, 2009 and appointed as Permanent Judge w.e.f. December 15, 2010.

    He took oath as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on May 6, 2019.
