    The Central Government today notified the appointment of Advocate Sachin Singh Rajput as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

    Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed this via his twitter handle today afternoon.

    "In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Sachin Singh Rajput, to be an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office", the notification issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India stated.

    The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 1st September, 2021 had recommended the elevation of Advocate Sachin Singh Rajput as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. Thereafter, in its meeting held on 11 November 2021 the Supreme Court Collegium had reiterated its earlier recommendation. 

    With the new appointment, the Chattisgarh High Court will have 14 judges as against the sanctioned strength of 22 judges
