The High Court of Chhattisgarh has issued directions for the Summer Vacation, 2026, in view of the circulars issued by the Supreme Court regarding optimum utilization of fuel and car-pooling arrangements.
As per the circular issued by the Registrar General Rajnish Shrivastava, hearings before the High Court shall be conducted through video conferencing during the vacation period. However, advocates unable to participate virtually for unavoidable reasons may appear physically before the Court. The Court has also retained discretion to direct physical hearing of any matter wherever considered appropriate.
The circular further states that Section In-Charge and Heads of Offices of the High Court and District Judiciary have been requested to permit staff to work from home for up to two days per week, while ensuring that at least 50% staff remain available in office. Employees working from home have also been directed to remain available over telephone and attend office whenever required.
In order to save fuel, Judicial Officers and Ministerial Officers of the High Court as well as the District Judiciary have been requested to use or share official vehicles through vehicle pooling arrangements.
The Registrar (Judicial) and Registrar (Computerization) have been directed to ensure compliance with the directions relating to video conferencing arrangements. The circular also states that the matter regarding further compliance after Summer Vacation, 2026 shall be reassessed depending upon prevailing circumstances at that time.
