    The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed to appoint Justice Manish Choudhury, Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court, as a Permanent Judge of that High Court. Justice Choudhury enrolled with the Bar Council of Assam in 1999 after obtaining his LL.B. Degree from the Gauhati University.     The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed to appoint Justice Manish Choudhury, Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court, as a Permanent Judge of that High Court.

    Justice Choudhury enrolled with the Bar Council of Assam in 1999 after obtaining his LL.B. Degree from the Gauhati University. He practiced mainly in the Principal Seat as well as in the Aizawl Bench, Itanagar Bench and Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court.

    He was Standing Counsel of the Directorate of Land Records, Assam from 2009 to 2016 and Senior Standing Counsel, Higher Education Department, Assam during 2014 to 2016. He was retainer counsel of a number of organizations, companies and PSUs.

    He was appointed as a Member, State Law Commission, Assam in June 2015 and was designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court in April 2017.

    He was elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on January 18, 2019.

    Recently, the Collegium also proposed to make Justices Sanjay Kumar Medhi and Justice Nani Tagia permanent Judges.
